Dennis Voigt

November 22, 1943 — September 4, 2013

Dennis L. Voigt, 69, Wausau, formerly of Merrill, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at Aspirus Hospital, Wausau.

He was born November 22, 1943 to Elaine (Engel) Draves and the Late Elmer Voigt. On October 1, 1966 he married Pearl Hoff at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Marathon close to Little Chicago. She survives.

Dennis retired as a machinist at Drott/ J.I. Case where he worked for 25 years. In his younger years he enjoyed snowmobiling, playing church softball, and bowling.

Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed playing sheepshead, occasionally going to the casino, watching softball, and playing games on Facebook.

Survivors include his wife Pearl (Hoff); two daughters, Joan (Mark) Hanson, Wausau, Tracy Voigt, Lake Mills; one son, Jason Voigt, Wausau; one grandson, Eric Voigt, Wausau; mother Elaine (Engel) Draves, Plainfield; sisters Janice Arvidson, Wausau, and Carol Luedtke, Plainfield; half-brother, Roger Tushoski, Everette, WA; half-sister, Patricia Tushoski, Marathon; step-brothers, Milton and Frank Tushoski, Tomahawk and step-sister, Linda (Tushoski) Price, Tomahawk. Sisters-in-law, Elaine (Harold) Schade, Land 'O Lakes, Lois (Robert) Giese, Tomahawk, Naomi (Jules) Neuenfeldt, The Villages, FL, Karen (Sheldon) Voigt, Merrill; brothers-in-law, Melvin (Kay) Hoff, Minocqua, James (Judy) Hoff, Westminster, CA, Sheldon (Bonnie) Hoff, Robert (LouAnn) Hoff and Peter (Jean) Hoff, all from Wausau. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Honorary granddaughters, Ashley and Ona Rae.

He was preceded in death by father Elmer Voigt; grandparents Edward & Minnie Voigt, William & Pauline Engel; step-brother Ronald Tushoski; in-laws William & Dorothy Hoff; and brothers-in-law Donald Hoff and John Luedtke.

The visitation will be Monday, September 9, 2013, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and service to follow at St Peter Lutheran Church on 329 County Road A, Marathon, WI, just west of Little Chicago. Pastor Philip Bogen will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Friedenshain Cemetery. Helke Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Wausau are handling the arrangements.

The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses for all the great care that Dennis received at Aspirus Hospital and the support of Pastor Philip Bogen and Chaplain Bob Polesnak.
