Wanda Benzinger

Wanda Benzinger, 64, of Wausau , died Monday August 18, 2008 , at Aspirus Wausau Hospital .

Wanda was born October 24, 1943 in Merrill to the late Marvin and Julia (Holzem) Krueger. She married Philip Benzinger on October 6, 1962 in Marshfield . To this union was born Kay Lynn. Before her stroke in 1992 Wanda was very involved with the volunteers at the Wausau Hospital and an active member at St. Mark Lutheran Church. She loved to read, cross-stitch, fish and her biggest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. For the last few years Wanda resided at Mary Wood Convalescence Center where she enjoyed listening and dancing to music, playing bingo and visiting with fellow residents and friends who would come to see her.

Survivors include her husband Philip; daughter, Kay Lynn (Paul) Heggemeier of Owen; grandchildren, Heather, Tiffany, Emily, Stephany, P.J. (Paul Jr.), and Benjamin; sister, June Krueger of Madison; brother Gerald Krueger of Merrill; brother-in-law, Larry Michalski of Wautoma, and many loving nieces and nephews. Wanda was preceded in death by her sisters Karen Michalski, Kay Beyer, brother-in-law Edwin Beyer, and her nephew Larry "Butch" Michalski Jr.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. , Thursday August 21, 2008 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church , Wausau . Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery , Merrill.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 PM until 7 PM at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau and Thursday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the Church.
