It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Violet Clara Vaughn, 95, who left this world peacefully on December 7, 2025. Born on April 24, 1930, in Wausau, to a humble farming family, Violet embodied resilience and grace throughout her remarkable life.
A graduate of Birnamwood High School, Violet's youthful spirit shone brightly as she played the clarinet in the school band, expressing her love for music. Violet's journey was not without its trials. She faced the world with unwavering strength, raising four children alone after the untimely death of her husband on a Christmas Day that became forever etched in her heart. Pregnant with her fourth child at that time, she nurtured her family with a fierce love and commitment that will be remembered by all.
As a records clerk for Wausau Insurance, Violet displayed a meticulous nature that complemented her gentle, caring spirit. However, her true vocation was that of a "total mom," pouring her heart and soul into nurturing her beloved children, fostering bonds that would last a lifetime.
Violet's faithfulness was her anchor, and she approached life with a steadfast conviction, embracing each day with warmth and compassion. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her loved ones, imbued with the lessons of love, strength, and perseverance she imparted.
Violet is survived by her children, Cindy (Chris) Weber, David (Cindy) Vaughn, and Leah Zastrow; grandchildren, John (Lily) Noble, David (Anna Ort) Vaughn, Kayleigh (AJ) Bielke, Matthew (Marissa) Zastrow, Luke Zastrow, and Joey (Taylore) Rose; siblings, Melvin (Julie) Poster and Helen Jean Hanson; son-in-law, Mark Zastrow; and many extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, David Vaughn; son, Andrew Vaughn; parents, Charles and Edna; siblings, Gloria Doyle, Chuck Postler, and Marvin Postler; son-in-law, John Noble and brother-in-law, Roger Hanson.
Funeral services will be held to honor Violet's life on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 12:00 pm at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 6205 Alderson Street, Weston. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of service. She will be laid to rest at Hogarty Cemetery at a later date.
Our family wishes to thank the staff at Aspirus at Home Hospice for their warm and gentle care. And a special thank you to Peggy Novak, Violet's niece, for all her help getting Violet to her many doctors' appointments. You are so appreciated.
