Viola Pittsley

Viola Pittsley, 91, of Wausau , entered eternal life on Thursday January 1, 2009 at home with her husband Clifford by her side, under Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

Viola was born April 6, 1917 in Mahomet , Ill. to the late William and Rosa (Brown) Wirt. She married Clifford Pittsley on August 24, 1940 in Wausau . Viola was a long time member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church , Wausau , a member of the Salem Guild and taught Sunday school for many years. Viola was an avid word search puzzle solver, loved to read, and enjoyed watching the Brewers and Packers.

Survivors include her husband Clifford, one son; Douglas (Kim) Pittsley, one daughter; Karen Pittsley all of Wausau, two grandsons; Brian (Emily) Pittsley of Mc Farland and Logan Pittsley of The Woodlands, Tx., two brothers; Earl (Lena) Wirt of Tucson, Ariz., and Carroll (Dorothy) Wirt of Wausau, and one sister Sylvia Stachovak of Wausau.

Viola was preceded in death by one granddaughter Caitlin, 4 brothers Wayne, Royal, Denzil, and Valmon Wirt, and 2 sisters Adele Heideman and Azalia Lenzen.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday January 7, 2009 at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church , Wausau . The Reverend Richard Russow will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park . Visitation will be Tuesday January 6, 2009 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau , and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
