Terrance "Terry" Knetter, age 78, passed peacefully on November 15, 2025, at the Mount View Care Center in Wausau, WI.
Born in Wausau to Alex and Alice Knetter, Terry lived a life full of adventure and love. After graduating high school, he proudly served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he found joy in the open road as an over-the-road truck driver, relishing the freedom that came with every mile. Terry also embraced life as a free spirit during the winters spent in Reno, Nevada.
He married Caroline Milkowski, now known as Caroline Schreiber. Even after they went their separate ways, Carol would later visit him at Mount View. When she would ask, "Do you remember me?" Terry would roll his eyes and jokingly respond, "How could I forget?"-a testament to his playful spirit.
Terry leaves behind two children, Nicholas Knetter and Racquel (Knetter) Springfield, as well as two cherished grandchildren, Shantel (Vallish) Hessil and Jadden Knetter, and one great-grandchild, Jaxson Hessil. He is also survived by three beloved siblings: Pam Norton, Sandy Thompson, and Tom Knetter, along with many relatives and friends who will miss his charm.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Join us for a public visitation on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Helke Funeral Home. The celebration of Terry's life will follow at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Woodrow Pace leading the service. Terry will find his resting place at Northwoods National Cemetery at a later date.
Terry lived by the motto, "Family is everything," and we take comfort in knowing that he is at peace, enjoying his mom's cooking, the sweet sound of Elvis, and petting plenty of "good dogs" to share in the joy. We also like to think he finally got his long-awaited Budweiser and Marlboros-cheers to you, Terry! You will be missed.
