Rodney Kalenske

Rodney L. Kalenske, age 88, of Wausau, WI, passed away on July 10, 2025. At

He was born on December 11, 1936, in Merrill, WI, to Emmette and Elsie Kalenske. Rodney married the love of his life and fellow saxophone enthusiast, Florence "Flory" Saeger, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill. Together, they shared 62 years of love and companionship before her passing in 2019.

Rodney dedicated 30 years of his life to serving as a firefighter with the City of Wausau. Following his retirement, Rodney and Florence enjoyed 17 years in Florida, where they embraced the warmth and beauty of the Sunshine State. The couple especially cherished their three memorable cruises together. Rodney thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his sons, Lindsay (Lori) Kalenske and Kevin (Mary) Kalenske; grandchildren, Ashley (Dylan) and Nathan; Great-Grandson: Owen, siblings-in-law, Jean Allen, David (Judy) Saeger, and Judy Buntrock, along with many extended family members and friends.

Rodney was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Florence, his parents, his parents-in-law, Roman and Goldie (Johr) Saeger, an infant grandson, and seven siblings-in-law.

A Service will be held at Restlawn Memorial Park in Wausau at 11:00 am, Monday the 28th of July. Interment to follow.
