Reinhold Grasmick

Reinhold "Reiny" Grasmick, 88, of Wausau passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at St. Clare's Hospital, Weston.

He was born September 20, 1919 in Saskachewan, Canada to the late Henry and Agnes (Boese) Grasmick. Between 1942 and 1945, Reiny served in the U.S. Army during WWII, earning the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Service Medal. On January 19, 1946 Reiny married Norma Crochiere at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. For 25 years, he worked in the maintenance department for the City of Wausau until his retirement. Reiny was an active member at Trinity where he participated in many Bible Study groups, the 55+ Club, and the Joy Center. He loved being outdoors and teaching his three sons how to hunt, fish, and camp. Reiny made friends wherever he went. Whether stranger or friend, Reiny always enjoyed good conversation and storytelling.

Survivors include his wife, Norma of Wausau, three sons, Richard (Mari) of Madison, Dennis (Andrea) of Chaska, MN, Mark (Deborah Basler) of Oshkosh, 5 grandchildren, Andrew (Emily) Grasmick, Gabrielle Grasmick, Alicia (Tony) Younger, Brad Dakan, Amanda Wirag, 3 great grandchildren, Brianna, Anthony, and Brady, one sister, Esther (Raymond) Strehlow of Wausau, one brother, Herbert of Tomahawk, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Carl and her husband Edward and sister-in-law, Phyllis Grasmick.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 29, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. Reverend Matthew Hein will officiate. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum at Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau and at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
