Obituary

Patrick Michael McFaul (Coach Mac) unexpectedly passed away peacefully in his home on September 4, 2026. Born January 10, 1949 in Milwaukee, WI, he was a big brother to Tim McFaul (Karen), Colleen Kingston (Robert), and Robert McFaul (Julie).

Pat left Milwaukee for college and met Sue (Bailey) at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point where he kicked on the football team. They married, moved around a lot, and had two daughters, Sunshine and Summer.

Pat and Sue took a risk and bought a grocery store in Rib Mountain, and McFaul's IGA became the family's second home. He met so many awesome humans and loved being a part of the Rib Mountain community.

After losing their store, Pat became a sales rep for a trucking company and found a spot in his true calling: coaching. Pat, a special teams and kicking specialist, coached kickers at Wausau West High School and then UW Stevens Point before ending his career coaching special teams/kickers for DC Everest Senior High. Pat loved his student athletes and loved coaching. He loved the humans he worked with and he loved and supported the Everest community.

While he was a stubbornly hard worker, his relationships with people were always what was most important. He loved big and he loved loudly. He loved people and doing right by them.

In the most recent years, my dad could be found maintaining his antique booth, refinishing furniture in the garage, birdwatching from his favorite chair, checking on and hanging out with Summer in Stevens Point, and making his daily runs to the post office or grocery store or Kwik Trip. He kept in touch with many of his former athletes and always loved hearing about my student athletes and whatever game/match I was at. He and Mom competed for who could get the better deals and make the most at their antique shows, and Mom is still finding his "hidden" stashes of snacks around the house.

There are a lot of us surviving my dad. He left way too soon. My mom and Summer, my husband, Louie, and I are so grateful to all of you who loved and knew my dad. We were so lucky to have him. We will miss his big laughs, his big hugs, and his big heart.

In lieu of flowers or money or food or donations, please instead: hug your loved ones, call them on the phone on speaker in public (and be sure your ringtone is obscenely loud), send them memes and cheesey gifs, and watch and take pictures of birds and send pictures to them; then go pet cats and talk baby to them in a high voice; go see a high school football game (bonus points if it's a DC Everest game) and be sure to cheer extra loud for the kickers; head to an antique store or estate sale or flea market; have a fish fry on Fridays and burger and wings at the Pit Stop on Mondays; watch The Price is Right in the mornings; cheer and curse loudly at, and for, the Packers and the Brewers; and be sure to hit up the grocery store and Kwik Trip. Every. Day. And always, always, always say hi to your neighbors and tell your people that you love them.

If you are stubborn like my dad and would still like to gift something in his name, you could donate to the Audubon Society:
