Mary Ann Howard, 96, of Wausau, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026.
Born on November 2, 1929, in Wausau, WI, she was the daughter of Clarence Albert Beilke and Ella (Knorr) Beilke. She was raised on the family farm and was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Naugart. Mary Ann graduated from Wausau High School in 1947 and she earned an associate degree in secretarial services from Spencerian College in 1949.
She worked many years with Employers Insurance of Wausau, retiring in 1992. Following retirement, Mary Ann remained active in her community, volunteering with her church, local nursing homes, as a poll worker for local elections, and at Aspirus Hospital. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary and other community service organizations.
On October 2, 1954, Mary Ann married Donald Edwin Howard at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Naugart. They made their home in Wausau throughout their 67 years of marriage and were longtime members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Together, they enjoyed traveling and were able to tour all 50 states as well as parts of Canada, Mexico, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. They enjoyed square dancing and spending time with family, friends, and neighbors.
Donald preceded Mary Ann in death in 2022. Mary Ann cherished her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Sheila Misso (Gary Roberton) of Rochester, MN; her son, Daniel Howard (Karen) of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren-Christina Misso, Angela Misso, Matthew Howard, and Jonathan Howard; and one great-grandchild, Ellanora Misso.
She honored her elders and ancestors and was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her brother, David Beilke. Mary Ann loved God and always knew Jesus would care for her.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (930 Edgewood Rd, Wausau, WI), officiated by Pastor Nicole Behnke-Welke. Visitation will take place at the church from 10:30 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow at Pine GroveCemetery.
