Louis W. Moser, age 93, of Rib Mountain, passed away on January 6, 2026 under the care of his family, and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. He died on the same homestead where he was born and where he lived most of his life. He was the son of Louis and Louise Moser, being the seventh of their eight children.

After high school he enlisted in the Army and was a veteran of the Korean War where he commanded a heavy mortar company in the Second Infantry Division. He earned the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Syngman Rhee Citation, and the Combat Infantry Citation with metal pendant. He was discharged as a Sergeant First Class. On May 13, 2013, he participated in the Never Forgotten Honor Flight, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

In 1952, he met and married Beverly Mesalk. In August of 2025, they celebrated 73 years of marriage. They were blessed with four children: Mark, Judy (Dan) Lodahl, Daniel (Sonja), and Karen (Tony) Ungerer. In addition, Louis has 11 grandchildren: Ben, Lynn, Ethan, Kayla, Alex, David, Haley, Carly, Carson, Leah, and Bridgette, along with 13 great-grandchildren.

Louis lived a full and happy life. He frequently said if he had his life to live over, he would do things exactly the same. He was a man of boundless energy. In addition to being a heavy equipment operator for 40 years, and a proud member of Local 139 Operating Engineers, he farmed part-time on the family homestead. He had a successful beef feeder operation, cash cropped hay, and raised ginseng.

Louis was a big game hunter and a trap shooter. With his son, Mark, he had many successful hunting adventures in Alaska, Canada, and the Western United States, collecting numerous impressive trophies along the way. He was a lifetime member of the Marathon Trap Club.

Louis also travelled to various European countries with the favorite destination being Wittenberg, Germany.

Louis was a man of deep faith, always making his church a priority. He served in various leadership roles over the years and felt service to God was the highest priority. He always made time for his children's activities which included Boy Scouts, showing horses, and their various sporting events.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and sisters. One sister, Lydia, survives.

A Service of Christian burial will be held on January 20th, 2026, at Rib Mountain Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
