Jerome “Jerry” Prahl, age 72, of Wausau passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital with his family by his side.
Jerry was born on September 18, 1952, in Wausau, the first born of seven kids blessed to Norman and Adeline (Traska) Prahl. He grew up on the family farm in the Town of Wausau, where he developed a love and appreciation for the outdoors that never left him. No matter where he lived, he could always find a perfect heat register to lay by to keep warm.
After graduating from Wausau East High School, Jerry proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves to serve his country. He welcomed his “little peanut,” Connie, with his wife, Marilyn. Jerry was most at home when he was outdoors. Whether it was deer hunting, fishing, or heading west for his beloved elk hunting trips in Colorado, he found peace and purpose in nature. That passion led him to start his own business, Outdoor Services Inc., which combined his love of the land with his hardworking spirit. He kept that love alive at home too—planting fruit trees, tending to his garden, landscaping his yard, and taking great joy in mowing his lawn. A proud cheesemaker by trade, Jerry had to retire early from Lactalis due to a back injury, but still kept in touch with many of his coworkers and friends. He was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in the Town of Easton and was a faithful man of God.
Jerry is survived by his daughter Connie (Cody) Robinson; siblings Linda (Jim) Glatczak, Arlo (Sue) Prahl, John Prahl, Cliff (Kris) Prahl and Karen (Jon) Roble; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Roger and mother of his daughter, Marilyn Prahl.
