James Bernell Boerner, age 89, of Wausau passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 3, 2025.
James was born in the Town of Stettin on July 13, 1935 to the late Frank and Lydia (Schulz) Boerner. James married Betty Boerner (Ament) of Rothschild, WI on August 6, 1955 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church after being introduced to her on a blind date. The couple eventually welcomed four daughters to their family: Roxi, Judy, Vicki and Patty.
James worked for 33 years at Wausau Paper Mills and also was a self-employed electrician. James enjoyed traveling with Betty throughout the United States. He enjoyed watching football, working outdoors, especially cutting down large maple trees, and making maple syrup.
James is survived by his daughters, Roxi (Daryl "Orv") Christian, Judy (Gary) Baumann, Vicki (Scott) Romang, and Patty (Jay) Pippenger, all of Wausau; grandchildren, Jason Baumann, Jamie Baumann (David Vande Vyver), Ashley (Nathaniel) LeNoble, Matthew (Dani) Christian, Bob Prechel and Jacob (Katie) Pippenger; great-grandchildren Lydia, Elizabeth, Nathaniel, Lainey and Evelyn; siblings, Germayne Matzke and Virjean (Raymond) Loy; sister-in-law Katie (Tom) Anderson; and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by Betty Boerner (Spouse), Brandon Pippenger (grandson), Dawn Hanke (sister), and brother-in-laws Gerald Hanke and Dean Matzke.
Funeral services for James Boerner will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 512 McClellan Street, Wausau, with the Reverend Karoline Schwantes officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 11:00 am and service at 11:00 am. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.
A heartfelt word of thanks goes to Mountain Terrace where James resided for the past two years with the care of their wonderful staff. The family would also like to thank Jim's good lifelong friend, Florian (Fritz) Blaskowski, for all the times he spent visiting him reminiscing about the good old days.
