Herbie Zahrt

Herbert "Herbie" Robert Zahrt, age 94, of Wausau, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, surrounded by love and lasting memories.

Born on June 9, 1931, to Emil and Esther (Strehlow) Zahrt. He dedicated 43 years of hard work to the Marmet Corporation and was a lifelong, faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher for many years.

In his early years, Herbie found joy in tending to his garden and raising goats, rabbits and chickens. Later in life, he also enjoyed exploring new places through travel and shooting a good game of pool. His warm smile and kind spirit will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Herbie is survived by his sisters Marion Zahrt and Ellie (Ed) Martin as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Marvin (Kate), Willard, Willy (Jean) and Lenny (Mabel) and his sisters Milly (Marvin) Totsch, Addie (Frank) Shelton, Lillian (Bob) Engebrecht, Vera (Bernie) Lehman and Juanita Zahrt.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church, 709 N. 6th St., Wausau. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church on Friday.
