Frederick "Fritz" William Seehafer

Fritz Seehafer, 77, of Wausau, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Sylvan Crossings on Evergreen Assisted Living in Wausau. He was born on April 27, 1948 in Wausau, WI to the late William and Helen Seehafer, one of three siblings. He graduated from Wausau High School. Fritz worked at American Can/James River/Fort James/Graphic Packaging for 44 years to faithfully provide for his family. He also thoroughly enjoyed selling Christmas trees as a side job during the holiday season.

Known for his humor and spirited nature, Fritz brought joy and laughter to all who knew him. His love of practical jokes was legendary as was his passion of watching The Three Stooges, Candid Camera, and Impractical Jokers. Fritz was the life of the party. He brought joy and laughter to all who knew him and even in his final days he kept those around him smiling.

Fritz loved his children and was actively involved as a baseball coach and both Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. He was famous for his boxcar derby cars and was a beautiful wood worker. Fritz was an avid fisherman and earned himself the nickname of Fritz Van Piker on his numerous fly-in fishing trips to Canada. He loved his Zillman's smoked meats, black licorice and frappes. More than anything, he loved spending time with his three grandsons, Nathan, Tyler, and Zachary. Bragging about their accomplishments was one of his joys in life. Fritz will be deeply missed but eternally remembered by his family and friends.

He is survived by his children: Jeremy Seehafer (Vicky) of Minocqua, WI and Rebecca Seehafer (John) of Wausau, WI as well as his grandsons, Nathan and Tyler Kramer and Zachary Seehafer, as well as his two brothers Gary and David.

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Helen Seehafer.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, September 25 at Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St, Wausau, WI, 54401. Visitation will be held at 10am and will be followed by a service at 11am.
