Eugenia Claire Rebman, age 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 21, 2026, with her daughter, Maggie, by her side.
Claire was born on October 7, 1933, in Allouez, Wisconsin, to Ernest and Agnes (Leanna) Zebuhr. She graduated from high school at the remarkable age of 17, an accomplishment she proudly shared throughout her life. After graduating, she worked for Fort Howard Paper Company, until her daughter, Terrie was born.
On August 27, 1955, Claire married the love of her life, Lawrence "Sam" Rebman, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Allouez. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love, and from their union seven children were born.
Claire found her greatest joy in being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She treasured the years she spent as a stay-at-home mom, dedicating herself completely to raising her family and creating a warm, loving home. Above all else, Claire adored her family and cherished every moment spent with them.
A woman of deep faith, Claire was an avid churchgoer. Her presence was so faithful and consistent that everyone knew when she wasn't there because her "assigned" seat on the fourth row on the right would be empty. Her devotion to her church and her faith served as a guiding light throughout her life.
Claire enjoyed many simple pleasures. She loved bowling, sewing, spending time at the family cabin in Goodman, Wisconsin, and never missed an opportunity to stop at the casino during the family's trips up north. She also had a special place in her heart for her beloved cat, Squeaky.
Known for her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor, Claire loved making her family laugh. Once the calendar turned to 2026, she delighted in telling everyone, "I'm almost 93," despite the fact that her birthday wouldn't arrive until October. Her playful spirit and joyful personality brought smiles to countless faces.
Claire was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Agnes (Leanna) Zebuhr; her beloved husband, Lawrence "Sam" Rebman; her daughter, Teresa Rebman-O'Connell; her son, Charles "Chuck" Rebman; her brother, Ernie Zebuhr Jr and her sister, Mary Alice Oettinger.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Cathy Rebman of Appleton, Wisconsin; Larry (Linda) Rebman of Appleton, Minnesota; Russell (Chris) Rebman of Wausau, Wisconsin; Bernie Rebman of Rothschild, Wisconsin; and Margaret Burk of Wausau, Wisconsin; her sisters, Wanda Maddux, of Oregon and Marilyn Fisher, of Ohio. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, as well as many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss her love, guidance, and laughter.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, September 29th, 2026 at 11 am at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wausau with Father Tom Lindner officiating. Inurnment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.
The Rebman family would like to send their gratitude to Aspirus Home Health- Hospice for their tremendous care they provided to Claire.
