Eugene Radenz

March 1, 1924 — October 13, 2008

Eugene “Gene” Radenz of Wausau, Wisconsin passed away peacefully Monday, October 13, 2008 at age 84 after a long battle against Pulmonary Fibrosis. Cherished husband to Marion Radenz of Wausau , WI . Loving father to daughters Susan Kay Larson ( Appleton , WI ) and Barbara Jean Furlick ( Milwaukee , WI ) and their husbands John A. Larson ( Appleton , WI ) and Richard Furlick ( Milwaukee , WI ).  Doting and caring grandfather to Melissa S. Larson ( Milwaukee , WI ), Greg ory J. Larson ( Los Angeles , CA ) and Vanessa Shenfeld ( Indianapolis , IN ). Gene was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Earl Radenz; and his sister, Virginia Senner. Eugene was a man full of life and loved instantly by those around him. He was always quick to lend a hand, laugh and/or a smile. His quick wit and carefree nature made him an inspiration to everyone he met.


Gene was born March 1, 1924 in Wausau to Fred & Leona (Gruenberg) Radenz.  He met Marion L. Bauman while attending the same high school in Wausau . The two were married on March 4, 1944 .  Gene and Marion celebrated sixty-four wonderful years together prior to his passing.


Gene was a veteran of World War II having served in the army as a Tech Sergeant in the European Theater.  Gene’s working career was devoted to the marketing, sales, and distribution of bakery goods having worked for a series of Bakery Companies out of Wausau . He greatly enjoyed the camaraderie of his work associates.



Gene and Marion were life-term members of Trinity Lutheran Church on Stewart Avenue in Wausau . A funeral service will be held at Trinity beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2008 . Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Military rites will be performed by V.F.W. Burns Post #388. Entombment will be at Restlawn Memorial Park in the Garden of Eternal Rest . You may sign our family guestbook at www.helke.com . In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Trinity Lutheran Church or to Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice.


The family of Gene Radenz would like to give special thanks to Barbara Budimlija his physicians assistant at Aspirus Pulmonary and Critical Care, Kimberly Slominski of Walgreens Home Care, and the team at Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice for the wonderful care they provided in a very compassionate manor.
