Ervin Warren Krahn, age 94, of Wausau, WI, peacefully passed away on September 10, 2025, surrounded by family at Wood Aven Health and Rehabilitation, under the care of Compassus Hospice Services. Erv was born on November 6, 1930 in Rib Falls to Walter and Viola (Hahn) Krahn. He grew up in Rib Falls and later moved to Wausau where he graduated from Wausau High School in 1948. Erv married Nancy Wohlfahrt on August 3, 1957. They were married for 68 years and together they raised four children: Scott, Dean, Sue and Kristin.
Erv owned CT Lumber & Supply Co Inc, along with his wife, where they operated a sawmill that supplied crating lumber to many local manufacturers in the Wausau area. Early on in his career he also built several houses; the first being his own where he and his wife lived for 66 years. Erv enjoyed working with his hands and could fix anything. He spent many hours fixing and maintaining machinery for the company. Whenever any one of us had car trouble, Dad was always there to fix it.
In his free time, Erv enjoyed hunting, fishing, cutting firewood and working on small projects in the lumber yard. He also enjoyed going up North with Nancy and the family to their cottage in Minocqua, WI; often going to the casino with his wife. Erv especially enjoyed spending time with his family, including his grandchildren who he was so proud of, and of course all the family dogs. Erv will be missed by all that knew him.
Erv is survived by his daughters Sue (Keith) Baine and Kristin (Steve) Swanson; grandchildren Casey, Kyle and Kali Krahn, Tanner and Taylor Baine, Aidan and Zoe Swanson; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Viola Krahn, sons Scott and Dean Krahn, and brother Howard (Norma) Krahn. The family would like to thank Compassus Hospice and the Wood Aven Staff for the incredible and attentive care Erv received. All services private.
