Daniel Reichl

Daniel Francis Reichl, age 93, passed away on December 23rd, 2025 at Aspirus Hospital, Wausau.

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 30th, 2025 at 10:30 am at St. Anne Catholic Church (700 W Bridge St, Wausau, WI 54401). Fr. Tom Lindner will officiate. Visitation will be held on Tuesday December 30th, 2025 from 9:00 am until the hour of Mass at the church. Entombment will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Dan was born October 4th, 1932 in Poniatowski, WI to Laura Koepp on the farm that his great-grandfather homesteaded. He attended the Hoffman School, St. Anthony's, and Athens High. In 1951, he started working at the Underwood Veneer Company. In December of 1952, Uncle Sam needed him and he left for basic training at Fort Indiantown Gap Military Reservation in Pennsylvania. After 1 year in Korea he went to Fort Carson, Colorado and was honorably discharged December of 1954. He then returned to work at Underwood Veneer which later sold to Connor Lumber and Land Company. In 1961, he started working for Wisconsin Fuel and Light Company in Wausau. He retired in 1994 as Street Department Superintendent after working there for 33 years.

He married his sweetheart, Shirley Koenig, on November 15th, 1952 at Trinity Lutheran Church. He shared a loving marriage with his wife, whom he cherished deeply, and together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and support. They raised 4 wonderful sons: Steven, Scott, Stuart, and Mark. He worked hard each day for his family, and Shirley was the steady heart of their home, caring for their sons and supporting the life they shared. They lived simply, focused on what mattered most-family. She died July 23rd, 2012 shortly before their 60th wedding anniversary.

Dan was a member of the American Montgomery-Plant-Dudley Post 10 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post 388. He was privileged to experience the Honor Flight on October 21st, 2013.

Dan enjoyed woodworking, gardening, feeding the squirrels, fishing, and using his beloved 16hp Bolens snowblower. He enjoyed using his skills to help his sons and family with various projects around the house.

In his later years he reunited with a special friend, Marian Braun, who he first met in the 7th grade at St. Anthony's. They enjoyed dancing on Sundays at Sherri Land Ballroom and other locations. They were both members of St. Anne Catholic Church.

Daniel is survived by his 4 Sons: Steve (Barb), Scott, Stu (Sue), and Mark (Jeri Ann); 5 Grandchildren: Jeremiah, Niki, Gretchen, Morgan, and Stephanie; 6 Great-Grandchildren: Samantha, Lincoln, Ashley, Isaac, Breana, and Ryan; 3 Sisters: Ruth Lyon, Gladys Beese, and Betty Jane Wentland; Special Friends: Marian Braun (Companion), Don and Molly Fenhaus, and Sy Hintz; and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by Shirley Reichl (Spouse), Laura Koepp (Mother), Clarence Koepp (Step-Father), and Gera Reichl (Daughter-in-Law).
