A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 27, 2026 at Zion Lutheran Church in Wausau for Brenda S. Plautz, age 66, who passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Marshfield Medical Center in Weston. Pastor Steven Gjerde will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. on Friday at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Helke Funeral Home in Wausau.
Brenda was born on June 4, 1959, in Wausau to Thomas and Shirley (Wandtke) Callahan. On August 9, 1986, she was united in marriage to Jeffery "Jeff" Plautz at Zion Lutheran Church in Wausau. Together, they built a life rooted in love and faith, spending their years in the community they both cherished.
Brenda worked at Wausau Hospital before dedicating herself to supporting her family's business, Woodcraft Renew-A-Kitchen. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, and grandmother whose strong Christian faith guided her life and was instilled deeply in her children.
She found great joy in the outdoors and in time spent with family. Brenda loved camping trips, relaxing at the family cottage in Minocqua on Booth Lake, hiking, kayaking, pontooning, snowshoeing, and skiing during the winter months. Above all, family meant everything to her. She wholeheartedly supported and loved her children in countless ways. Brenda's wonderful sense of humor and warm personality made her the life of the party, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Brenda is survived by her beloved husband, Jeff Plautz of Wausau; her mother, Shirley Callahan of Weston; her children, Sara (Paul) Wajgel of Oak Creek, Ethan (Whyatt) Bristol of Wausau, and Andy (Bri) Plautz of Dallas, Texas; her siblings, Bruce Callahan of Wausau, Brian (Judy) Callahan of Wausau, Beth Callahan of Oshkosh, and Brad Callahan of Iron River, Michigan; her granddaughter, Ariyah Rae Plautz-Bristol; many cherished nieces and nephews; and her loving dog, Riley.
She was preceded in death by her father; her nephew, Kyle Callahan; and her beloved dog, Reggie.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the compassionate staff of the Oncology Unit at Marshfield Medical Center in Weston for their exceptional care and support.
