Arthur "Archie" J. Kickbusch Jr., age 95, of Wausau, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Rennes Long Term Care Facility with his family by his side. He was born January 1, 1930, in Wausau to Louise (nee Krenz) and Arthur Kickbusch Sr.
He grew up in the town of Wausau on the family farm. In his youth, Art worked for a trucking company, delivering coal and at a dairy picking up milk cans from farms in the area. He worked for 37 years at American Can, retiring in 1992. He was a dedicated worker who left for work very early in the morning just in case he encountered a flat tire. He met the love of his life, Bernice Stankowski, at the roller rink in the Rothschild Pavillion. They were married for 74 years before Bernice's passing in 2023. Together they enjoyed camping at Camper's Haven in Tomahawk, WI, bowling on teams and winters in Apache Junction, AZ. For many years Art and Bernice belonged to a card club where they played Sheepshead. Art enjoyed Milwaukee Brewer's Baseball, Green Bay Packer's Football, as well as playing bingo at the casino, and driving his Cadillacs.
Survivors include his children, Terry (Jamie) Kickbusch, Gary (Marie) Kickbusch, and Renee (Dale) Durkee all of Wausau; 5 grandchildren, Tom, Jessica, Justin, Jordan, and Brandon; 7 great grandchildren, Sam, Will, Leo, Evelyn, Margot, Brena, and Emma; and many other nieces and nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Sr. and Louise; and his sisters, Janet (Dave) Hackbarth and Marlus (Dave) Hanke.
A Celebration of Art's Life will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wausau. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until time of service. Urn burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Memorial donations can be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church.
