Arden S. Schwartz, age 100, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Azura Memory Care in Wausau, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on July 21, 1924, in Marathon, Wisconsin, Arden was the son of the late Theodore and Minnie (Hahn) Schwartz. After graduating from high school, Arden proudly served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Air Force. Following his honorable discharge, he met the love of his life, Ethel Delaschmit, in Rhinelander, where she was working at a local bait shop selling minnows. It was love at first sight, and they were married on August 28, 1948, in Wausau. Their marriage of 74 years was blessed with five children: Jerome, Sally, Shirley, Jonathon, and Judy.
Arden worked as a postal carrier with the U.S. Post Office for 23 years, a job he held until his retirement. A true outdoorsman at heart, Arden found joy in living off the land. He was at his happiest when hunting, fishing, and tending to his garden. Arden and Ethel also shared a love for travel, especially enjoying camping trips in Canada and spending their winters as snowbirds in Florida.
Arden is survived by his children Jerome (Kaye) Schwartz and Jonathan (Jill) Schwartz, twin daughters; Sally (Jaime) Barron, and Shirley Schwartz. He is further survived by many Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Arden is preceded in death by his wife, Ethel; daughter Judy Schwartz and siblings Frank (Joy) Schwartz, Mary Luedtke and Fred (Fae) Schwartz.
A Celebration of Arden's Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 8th, 2025 at Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St, Wausau. Visitation will be held form 10:00 until the time of service til the time of service at the funeral home on Thursday. Inurnment with military honors will take place following the service at Restlawn Memorial Park.
