Adiene Helen Zickerman (née Corby)

Adiene Zickerman, 82, of Wausau, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on August 16th. Born February 13, 1943, in Troy, New York, she was the daughter of the late Sally and Robert Corby.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Phil Zickerman; her siblings Bob Corby (Camille), Kathy Needham (Greg) and Itter Randazzo (Joe); and her children Erin Krizizke (Brock), Jennifer Jones (Eric), Tamara Olin (Kevin), Brandon Zickerman and Dana Bartocci (Jason Borden); and her grandchildren Caden Krizizke, Brady Krizizke, Lincoln Krizizke, Shea Jones, Easton Jones, Jacob Olin, Hailey Olin, Jasmine Zickerman, Isaac Zickerman, Sammy Bartocci, Tessa Bartocci and Eli Bartocci Borden; and her great-granddaughter Keana Zickerman.

Adiene had a deep love for cooking and hospitality. Early in her life she owned the Ale House in Troy, NY, where she demonstrated her ability to both cook and run a business. She moved to Wausau, WI but never stopped her love of cooking and taught many others over the years how to make bread and marinara sauce, passing down these skills to family and friends alike. She also taught her children the value of thrift, the satisfaction of a good bargain, and the importance of not letting anything go to waste.

A lifelong competitor, Adiene was a dedicated tennis player. When her local club faced closure, she purchased and operated ZAP Tennis to keep it alive for the community and to preserve a sport she loved. She was also a bridge master, continuing to enjoy the game into her 80s.

Her affection for animals, especially dogs, was constant throughout her life. From Cody to countless others, she welcomed each one with kindness and more than a few treats from the table.

Adiene’s home on the river was her haven. It became a cherished gathering place where family and friends shared holidays, celebrations, and countless everyday moments always with good food. Those memories, and the love she poured into them, will be felt for generations.

A celebration of Adiene's life will be held Monday, August 18, 2025, at 11:00 am, at Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce Street, Wausau. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Chaplain Mark Lewis will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Marathon County, 7001 Packer Drive, Wausau, WI 54401.
