Every
service should be a memorable, warm reflection of the person
who has died. Photographs, a special song, even a favorite
tie or golf clubs, can be incorporated into the funeral
service to make it more meaningful. Along with striving
to make each service more meaningful, at Helke Funeral Home
and Cremation Service we also provide the following services,
at no extra cost to a family:
Personal Keepsakes
Each family served at our funeral home receives, in remembrance
of their loved one, a personalized memorial candle, a laminated
memorial folder, and a laminated obituary.
Family Care Program
At Helke Funeral Home, because we care about each family
we serve, we choose to have a Family Care Representative.
Our Family Care Representative makes certain each family
continues to be taken care of following the funeral or memorial
service. Our representative will contact the family two
weeks following the funeral and again in five to seven weeks
to help answer questions, provide grief resource materials,
and to help families through the grieving process.
Personal
Family Escort
At Helke Funeral Home, we provide an escort to the Marathon
County Courthouse to visit the register of deeds and the
Register of Probate Offices, the Department of Social Security,
and the Veteran’s Service office. At no extra cost,
we will help give families the direction they may need for
several types of legal assistance.
Holiday Remembrance Service
All of the families we serve throughout the year receive
an invitation to join us for a holiday grief program entitled,
“When the Holidays Hurt.” The program is generally
held during the first week of December at the Rose Garden
Banquet Center in Wausau. This program is designed to help
families and friends who are grieving find alternative ways
to help them cope with their loss during the holiday season.
The service concludes with a memorial candle lighting ceremony
in honor of loved ones lost throughout the year. The Holiday
Remembrance Service is open to the public.
Wings and Roots
Each Spring, the Helke Funeral Home, along with a co-sponsor,
holds a community presentation on understanding and coping
with grief. In 2003, Iris Bolton, Director of Link Counseling
Center, presented “Dealing With Loss: A Sharing or
Healing, Hope and Meaning.” In 2004, Dr. Tom Attig,
author of “The Heart of Grief”, spoke on the
grieving process. Please contact the funeral home for more
information on upcoming "Wings and Roots" programs.
Tours, Seminar, and Career Days
The Helke Funeral Home is always proud to welcome area
groups into the funeral home for tours and seminars. We
have presented to groups such as the Wausau Jaycees, Trinity
Lutheran Church students, New Hope Community Church adults
and students, State College of Beauty students, and nursing
students at North Central Technical College. We have also
presented seminars to the public, civic organizations, church
groups, nursing homes, Community Based Residential Facilities
(CBRF), and schools, on all aspects of funeral service,
including funeral preplanning and cremation.

Memorial Picture Boards (MPB's) are a collection of pictures
that fade in and out, rollover and blend together through
a sequence. Memorial Picture Boards turn static photos into
a life tribute and allow families and friends to take a
journey through the life of someone they loved. Memorial
Picture Boards enhance traditional obituaries and can be
viewed by others online where messages of condolence or
memories can be left. view
