Wilbert Barttelt

Wilbert Barttelt, 89, formerly of Wausau, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

He was born December 12, 1918 in Wausau to the late August and Clara (Krohn) Barttelt. On July 20, 1940, Wilbert married Ruth Genrich in the town of Maine. They celebrated 62 years together. Wilbert and Ruth made their home in Wausau where Wilbert was employed by 3M before retiring after 35 years of service. In their free time, Wilbert and Ruth enjoyed reading, Polka dancing, going for rides in the country and the occasional visit to the casinos. They loved being at their trailer on Lake Tomahawk always looking forward to visit or play cards with their many friends. Wilbert also enjoyed hunting and especially fishing. After moving to Pine Crest, he made many friends and loved participating in the various activities even discovering his hidden talent of making wood crafts.

Survivors include special friends, Judy and Al Elliott of Merrill, two sister-in-laws, Evelyn Bartelt of Houston, TX and Jean Bartelt of Jonesboro, AR, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Wilbert was preceded in death by Ruth on September 16, 2002 and three brothers, Clifford, Leander, and Victor (Delores) Bartelt.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 31, 2008 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Reverend Matthew Hein of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate. Entombment will be in the Garden of Eternal Rest Mausoleum at Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
