Therese Conrad, 84, of Wausau , passed away Wednesday October 8, 2008 at Mount View Care Center



She was born August 29, 1924 in Bloomer to the late Raymond and Constance (Reese) Schmitt. On September 12, 1950 , Therese married Gordon Conrad in Thorp.



Making their home in Wausau , Gordon worked at American Can and Therese lovingly cared for her family. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed canning fresh vegetables from her garden. She kept active tending to her flower garden, knitting, swimming, bike riding and traveling. Therese also loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.



Survivors include her husband, Gordon of Wausau, her children, David (Theresa) Conrad of Wausau, Annmarie (Jeffery) Blume of Wausau, Susan (Joe) Mertens of Merrill, and Joe (Connie) Conrad of Wausau, 6 grandchildren, Ross (Jill) Conrad, Eric, Ben, and Dan Conrad, Alaina and Shannon Blume, two brothers, Jim Schmitt of Wabasha, MN, Virgil Schmitt of Cadott, and one sister, Rita (Ed) Golen of Milwaukee. Therese was preceded in death by one brother, Ray Schmitt, three sisters, Mercedes Nieman, Rose Schmitt, and Lucille Dietsche, and 2 sister-in-laws, Sue and Lucille Schmitt.



The funeral mass will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 13, 2008 at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Oratory on Grand Ave. , Wausau . Father Henry Fragelli will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park . Visitation will be Monday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the church with Rosary services beginning at 10:30 a.m. Helke Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
