Ruth Hoefs, 86, of Wausau passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
She was born September 8, 1922 in Wausau to the late Carl and Martha (Meilahn) Hoefs. Ruth graduated from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point with a degree in education. She taught the 4th grade in the D.C. Everest school district for 37 years retiring in 1984. Ruth was a member of the National Educators Association, Wisconsin Retired Teachers Association, Marathon County Retired Teachers Association, and Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. Ruth was also a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church where she was active in the Leah Circle and Jolly Friends. She is survived by several cousins, special caregivers, Cal and Eunice Chamberlain, and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 18, 2009 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church. Rev. Paulette Creswell will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from Noon until the time of services at the church. Helke Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com.
