Roy Raasch

Roy Gordon John Raasch, 71, died Monday, April 13, 2015 at Wausau Manor under the care of AseraCare Hospice.

Roy was born November 21, 1943 in Wausau to the late Roy and Marian (Klein) Raasch. He was a lifelong resident of the Wausau area. Roy began working for Connor's for a few years before working for the City of Wausau for the next 36 ½ years as a heavy equipment operator. He married the love of his life, Donna Mae Streeter, on August 15, 1964 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Wausau. Together they visited Florida, Las Vegas, Arizona, Texas, New Mexico and also had a memorable trip to Hawaii. Sadly, Donna died on March 8, 2013 after 48 wonderful years together.

Roy was a quiet man who enjoyed family gatherings around the holidays and birthdays. Free time often found Roy watching football or NASCAR, cheering on Dale Jr. He also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, going to the casino and getting together with the Retirement Club. These last two years found Roy at Island Place where he made many friends and liked passing the time playing cards with his new friends.

Roy is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law: John and Betty Streeter, Wausau and Gerald and Judy Streeter of Hazelhurst, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister, Susan Lashua.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Fr. David Klutterman will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 6:30 PM on Thursday, April 16 at Helke Funeral Home, resuming at 9:00 AM on Friday until the time of service at the funeral home.
