Rosemary Barttelt

June 17, 1920 — November 18, 2011

Rosemary was born June 17th 1920, the daughter of the late Reed C. and Sophie (Krohn) Burns, in Wausau. Shortly after, she was baptized into the Lord at the old St. James Catholic Church, Wausau.
Rosemary met the love of her life, Windy, dancing at Colonial Ballroom. On June 29th 1940, she was united in marriage to Myron "Windy" Barttelt. Together they raised their family for 50 years in their home in Brokaw.

Myron and Rosemary shared 56 years of marriage prior to his death in 1996. Together they enjoyed all life had to offer from camping, traveling, fishing, and their annual pheasant hunt in South Dakota, there never was a dull moment.

Rosemary's life revolved around nourishing others as a lifelong caregiver of all those she knew. She gave of herself unconditionally through raising her seven children, enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and tirelessly caring for Myron when he became ill. She continued volunteering at Marywood Nursing Home after Myron's death and it quickly became a favorite past time; even when she moved to Kennedy Park, she could be found helping those around her. The family retreat, "The 80", where many memories were made and laughs shared, will never be the same. She enjoyed trips to Lake Geneva, and those drives along the back roads will be fondly remembered. Rosemary will be remembered by all who knew her for her sense of humor, kindness, and devotion.

At the age of 91, Rosemary Barttelt, went to be with her Lord and Savior, November 18th, 2011, with her daughters by her side, at Kennedy Park Nursing Home, Schofield, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

She will be missed by her loving family including her 7 children, Lois (Jerome) Kufalk, Susann Barttelt, Mary Krueger, David Barttelt, Kathryn McCoy, Kristine Mais, and Connie O'Callaghan; 21 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; 6 step-great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Reed C. (Irene) Burns, Jr., Richard Burns, and William (Helen) Burns; sister, Patricia Rose; brother-in-law, Harry Kort; and other family members and friends.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, LeRoy Burns; 2 sisters, Pearl Dupuis and Jane Kort; and great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Barttelt.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon, Wednesday, November 23rd, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Wausau. The Reverend Robert Thorn will officiate. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Family will receive guests at the church on Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
