Ralph Stieber, 85, Wausau, died Friday August 6, 2010 at North Central Health Care, Wausau.
Ralph was born July 23, 1925 to the late Otto and Laura (Murr) Stieber in Wausau. He is a graduate of Wausau Sr. High School. In 1943, Ralph served in the United States Navy as a Pharmacist Mate Second Class and was honorably discharged in 1946. Ralph then enlisted in the United States army where he attained the rank of first Sergeant. He was honorably discharged in 1952. Ralph worked for a while at Mirman’s furniture store. He obtained a degree as a dental technician and later obtained a degree in masonry and worked as a brick layer.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Laura (Murr) Stieber; sisters, infant Virginette and Loretta Hamilton; brother, Elroy Stieber; and brothers-in-law, Joseph Van Kollenburg, Niles Hamilton, Wallace Hintz and Myron Schmitz. Survivors include his brother, John (Jan) Stieber of Kronenwetter; sisters, Marian Van Kollenburg of Chicago, IL, Sylvia Hintz of Chippewa Falls, Vernetta (Oscar) Lang of Franksville, Joan Schmitz of Milwaukee, Theresa (Dick) Wohlford of Wausau and Julie (Jack) Froom of Ringle; sister-in-law, Helen Stieber of Wausau; and many nieces and nephews. Ralph will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Holy Name of Jesus Parish. Father Gerald Pehler OFM Cap will be officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Thursday and continue until the time of service at the church. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Marathon. American Legion Alois Dreikosen Post #469 will be performing military rites at the cemetery.
