Marcella Tasche

January 14, 1928 — April 20, 2008

Marcella Margaret Tasche, 80, Wausau, died Sunday, April 20, 2008 at the Hospice House under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice.

Marcella was born on January 14, 1928 in the Town of Frankfurt to the late John and Elizabeth (Grabowski) Mohr. In 1946, Marcella met LeRoy Tasche at a dance and on October 25, 1948 the couple was united in marriage. Often times the happy couple traveled around the area during the summer to local churches to partake in the meal and enjoy the polka music. The union was blessed with three daughters; Carol, Barbara, and Debra. Marcella and LeRoy celebrated fifty-nine loving years together prior to her passing.

Marcella took care of her girls while LeRoy worked many jobs to support the family. At home, she cooked wonderful meals, often using vegetables fresh from her garden. She also canned many of her vegetables, making delicious pickles and becoming known as the "Tomato Lady". In her garden she also grew beautiful flowers which she adored. Marcella sewed and embroidered throughout her life. After her children were out of the house, she babysat for Amanda and Aaron Tessmer until they were school age. This relationship continues to this day as Amanda and Aaron affectionately refer to Marcella and LeRoy as "Grandma and Grandpa". When Marcella and LeRoy were blessed with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she rarely missed a moment to spoil them with her love and wonderful homemade creations. In her free time, Marcella enjoyed playing sheepshead and other card games with family and friends

Marcella is survived by her beloved husband, LeRoy; daughters, Carol (James) Offer, Barbara (Steve) Hanson, and Debra (Robert) Thomas; five grandchildren, Brian Hanson, Bradley (Jenny) Hanson, Kristie (Tony) Bangart, Kevin Offer, and Katie Offer; two great-grandchildren, Keely and Tristan Hanson; and two sisters, Lorraine Colcord and Marie Czerwinski. Marcella is preceded in death by two brothers, Norman Mohr and Leonard Mohr; and two sisters, Bernice Hannemann and Evelyn Shorey.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. Pastor Matthew Hein will be officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church and last until the time of the funeral at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.

The family of Marcella Tasche wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff and residents of Wausau Manor and the Hospice House for all of their loving care and support.
