Mamie Hintze

February 8, 1915 — December 8, 2009

Mamie Mary Weigandt was born February 8, 1915 to the late Gustav and Mathildia (Buchholz) Weigandt in the Town of Hewitt. She married Gilbert Hintze on November 18, 1933 in the Town of Easton. Mamie and Gilbert celebrated 45 joyful years together prior to his death February 27, 1979. Mamie died Tuesday, December 8, 2009 under the care of the Palliative Care Unit at Aspirus Wausau. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, adoring grandmother and wonderful cook and baker who will be missed by all who loved her.


Mamie is survived by her son, Donald (Betty) Hintze; 4 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and a couple great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Viola Kollath of Wausau; 2 sisters-in-law, Dorothy Wiegandt of Wausau and Ada Mae Hintze of Florida. Mamie was preceded in death by her sister, Edna Krueger; brothers, Ed, Herbert, Lawrence and Victor Wiegandt; and brother-in-law, Ernest Kollath.


Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Helke Funeral Home. Reverend David Faulkner will be officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday at the funeral home and last until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 14, 2009 at Restlawn Memorial Park. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt word of thanks to the wonderful staff of Mt. View Care Center, especially the staff of 2 South, for their care over the past several months. Also, to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Aspirus Wausau Hospital for their loving care of Mamie in her final days.
