Luella Baumann

Luella Bertha Hertha Baumann, 94, of Wausau, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Mt. View Care Center. She was born to Martin and Augusta (Hoernke) Sturm in the town of Maine on September 27, 1918. She was married on November 7, 1936, to Elgart Baumann, Sr. in the town of Maine. He preceded her in death on July 10, 1992. Luella was a homemaker who loved and took care of her family. She also had a part-time cleaning job at the Steffke-Spector Freight Company.
Luella loved to knit and she would share the many baby sweaters and doilies with her family and friends. Many children and grandchildren from her family and friends' families had a sweater that Luella made as they were growing up. She was an excellent baker and her family would always look forward to her baked goods, especially her home-made bread. She met weekly at the healthcare center with the senior group to play Sheepshead. Luella was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Wausau Senior Citizens Club, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Luella is survived by her son, Elgart (Eunice) Baumann of Wausau; grandchildren, Timothy (Beverly) Baumann, Brenda (David Patrick) Bolin, Angela Baumann, Christian (Jennifer) Gee, and Corey Gee; great-grandchildren, Sierra Gee and Andrew Bolin; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Elgart; daughter, Kathleen Gee; parents, Martin and Augusta; brothers, Eugene and Royal (Ella) Sturm; sisters, Elberta (Walter) Crowley and Alvera (Eldor) Klebenow; brothers-and sisters-in-law, Lawrence (Edna) Giese, Harold (Esther) Bohl, Charles (Ella) Barrett, and Clarence (Norma) Oelke; and nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 Stewart Ave., Wausau, with Rev. Zach Holdorf officiating. Family and friends may call on Sunday, April 7, beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau, and again at the church on Monday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, town of Maine.
