Louis Imhoff

Louis Imhoff, 94, Edgar, died Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.



Louis was born May 9, 1914 in the Town of Emmett to the late Joseph and Mary (Karlen) Imhoff. Louis was united in marriage June 25, 1940 to Bernice Hannemann at St. John's Catholic Church, Edgar. To this union were born four sons; David, Jerry, Gene, and Don. Louis worked as a farmer in the Town of Emmett and in construction working with cement until 1978 when he retired from both professions. Louis and Bernice moved to Edgar and he took up the custodial duties at St. John's Catholic School. Louis and Bernice celebrated sixty-seven wonderful years together prior to his passing.



Louis was a private man though out his life, but he was a very good and proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. When his boys were growing up, Louis was always strict but fair and when it came time for grandchildren, he was often the first one to be on the floor to play. Louis was very easy going and never complained a bit, his quiet way hid a wonderful sense of humor and a love of playing practical jokes on family and friends. Later in life, he continued to take river walks and exercised regularly keeping a great value on his good health. In his free time, Louis enjoyed gardening, especially growing wonderful roses, fishing, and playing sheepshead whenever he could.



Louis is survived by his beloved wife, Bernice; sons, Jerry (Charlene) of Edgar, Gene (Bernie) of North Zulch, TX, and Don (Chris) of Edgar; six grandchildren, Sheryl (Scott) Bouchard, Tina (Ben) Szemborski, Paul Imhoff, Sarah (Gavin) Jones, Kyle Imhoff, and Trevor Imhoff; five great-grandchildren, Dylan and Brett Bouchard, Miranda and Hunter Szemborski, and Grayson Jones; sister, Marie Furger of Marathon; brothers, Joseph Imhoff of Wausau and Robert (Rita) Imhoff of Marshfield; and many more nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, David; sisters, Sarah Kraimer, Helen Osterbrink, and Agnes Kraimer; and brothers, Edward and Alex Imhoff.



Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Deacon Bob Anderson will be officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM at Helke Funeral Home. Burial will follow the funeral service in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Edgar.



Louis's family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Aspirus Hospital Palative Care Unit for their loving care and support.
