Larry Haling

Larry Haling was born January 25, 1931 in Mosinee to the late William and Stella (Harris) Haling.
Growing up and attending school in Mosinee, Larry met the love of his life in a Wausau dime store. Helen Bramm caught his eye and they became high school sweethearts. Larry at Mosinee High and Helen at Wausau Senior High. After graduation, Larry served in the Navy and after coming home married Helen on June 10, 1950 at Grace Evangelical Reformed Church in Wausau. He joined the Army and served during the Korean War. Returning home he moved his family to Kenosha where he worked at American Motors and then for the U.S. Post Office. He retired from glass manufacturer Anchor Hocking, Inc. of Gurnee, Ill in 1985. Helen and Larry spent their retirement years in Wausau. In his younger days, Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting, dartball, baseball and bowling. He still loved tending his backyard vegetable garden.
At the age of 79, Larry passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Colonial Manor of Wausau.
Survivors include his wife, Helen of Wausau, two daughters, Karen (James) Shiffer of Weston, Rose (fiancé-Todd Schwaiko) Haling of Kenosha, one son, Delmar "Del" Haling of Wausau, four grandchildren, Mike (Barb Walley) Haling, Pat (fiancé-Sophia Galvan) Mueller, Jason (Amanda) Haling, Joyce Bella and special friend Danielle Cline, eight great grandchildren, Shianne, Melanie, Neena, Victoria, Joshua, Elizabeth, Aryana, Shanea, and two brothers, Russell (Betty) Haling of Hayward and Vernon (Carol) Haling of Mosinee. Larry was preceded in death by one grandson, Joshua Maginn, two brothers, Bob and Marvin Geofrey and one sister, Letty Edenhoffer.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post #10
