James Grauvogl

James Maeward Grauvogl, 19 days, Wausau, died Thursday, April 8, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Hospital NICU, Marshfield.


James was born prematurely March 20, 2009 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Weston to parents, Tia Grauvogl and James E. Jones Jr. He was a tough little guy who at the tender age of one hour took his first helicopter ride from St. Clare’s to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. James was a little fighter who endured surgery and many days in the hospital all the while winning the hearts of all who took care of him.


He is survived by his loving parents, Tia Grauvogl and James E. Jones Jr.; maternal grandparents, Ruth and Keith Grauvogl; maternal great-grandmother, Alice Christian; paternal grandmother, Tammy (Needham) Keturi; paternal aunt and uncles, Daniel, Devin, Tamela, and Cortez; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his maternal great-grandfather, Maeward Christian; paternal grandfather, James E. Jones; and uncle, Desha.


Funeral services will be 11:30 AM Monday, April 13, 2009 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church-930 Edgewood Road, Wausau. Pastor John Meachen will be officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Monday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and continue until the time of services at 11:30 AM. Burial will be in the Town of Berlin Cemetery following the service. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of both St. Clare’s Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital; especially, Dr. Meyer and nurses Dawn and Denise at St. Clare’s and Dr. Denny and Dr. Hoehn and nurses Jodi, Melissa, Theresa, and Carolyn of St. Joseph’s Hospital, for their loving and compassionate care of James.


How softly you came into our lives, but what a mark your tiny footprints have made on our hearts.
