Hildegard Seehafer

February 6, 1915 — June 15, 2014

Hildegard A. Seehafer, 99, formerly of Marathon, died Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Ministry St. Clare's Hospital, Weston.

She was born on February 6, 1915 at home to the late Reinhard and Bertha (Gresens) Krohn. Hildegard was baptized on February 21, 1915 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau and later confirmed on March 24, 1929 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Marathon. She is a 1934 graduate of Wausau High School. Hildegard married Martin A. Seehafer on November 16, 1935 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. After 54 wonderful years together, Martin died January 16, 1990.Shortly after marriage Hildegard joined her husband as a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Town of Stettin. She went on to become the church's oldest member.

Hildegard was a woman of boundless faith and a deep love of her family. While a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Town of Stettin, she was active in the choir, quilting group, altar guild and afternoon circle over the course of her life. When Trinity celebrated its 150th anniversary, Hildegard sang in the German choir and proudly recited the Lord's Prayer in German. Her family will remember all of the wonderful stories she loved to tell and Hildegard's wonderful sense of humor. Throughout her years, Hildegard enjoyed working in her garden raising many flowers and vegetables, cooking and baking for her family, working on countless arts and crafts projects and researching her family's genealogy.

Hildegard is survived by her loving daughter, Phyllis Heise; grandchildren, Renae (Bryan) Wesolowski and Ross (Julie) Heise; great-grandchildren, Angela (Chris Rice), Ben (Ashley Wilichowski) and Amélie; and extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband; parents; son-in-law, Roger Heise; and siblings, Elmer (Lavera) Krohn and Melvin (Laverne) Krohn.

Funeral services will be 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 21st, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Town of Stettin. Reverend Phil Bogen will officiate. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday, June 21st, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Town of Stettin, and last until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Stettin Christian Cemetery.
