. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Kartes and Emma Fritsch. He was retired from Marathon Electric. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Herbert is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jadwiga Janiszewski; three sons, Jeffrey Kartes, Wausau, Richard (Carri) Kartes, Aniwa, Daniel (Robin) Kartes, Alexandria, MN; a daughter, Laura (Jaye) Gutowski, Wausau; seven grandsons, Jonathon (Georgia) Gutowski, Fairbanks, AK, SPC Christopher (Brooke) Gutowski, Woodlawn, TN, SGT Jordan (Melissa) Gutowski, Vilsec, Germany, PFC Matthew (Melissa) Gutowski, Fort Polk, LA; Matthew Sage, David Kartes and Adam Kartes, Aniwa, WI; two great granddaughters, Juliana Gutowski, Fairbanks, AK and Briana Gutowski, Vilsec, Germany. Herbert was very proud that his grandchildren chose to serve in the U.S. Army.
Funeral services will be at the Helke Funeral Home on Saturday, July 12. Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m. with services at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Restlawn Memorial Park .
