Helen Sophia Celing, 99, Wausau, died April, 10, 2012 at Mt. View Care center, Wausau.
She was born on January 1, 1913, to the late Simon and Maren (Peterson) Simonsen, in Antioch, IL. She was the middle child of five. She married Edwin Celing on April 18, 1936, in Antioch, IL. Together they raised their three children.
Helen enjoyed spending time with her family, they would take vacations around the U.S., and once overseas, but her favorite vacation spot was the summer home in Land-O-Lakes, WI., where she could enjoy fishing, swimming. Helen also liked to crochet, do crossword puzzles, needlepoint, paint, and do ceramic art. When she was able to, Helen liked to cross-country ski, until her health wouldn't allow her to anymore. She also liked to sit back and enjoy a good game of cards or a board game with family, or friends. She was also a cancer survivor.
Helen will be sadly missed by her, daughter, Barbara (Richard) Prouty; two sons, Larry Celing, and Don (Mary) Celing; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; two brothers, Edgar, and Walter Simonsen; two sisters, Anna Ankerberg, and Mabel Dunning.
There will be no formal services held at this time.
