Hazel Goetsch

Hazel Goetsch, 96, of Wausau , died Thursday March 12, 2009 at Harmony Living Center under Comfort Care and Hospice Services.



Hazel was born
September 13, 1912 in Wausau to the late Wallace and Barbara (Finch) Shidell. She married Raymond Goetsch on August 26, 1939 in Wausau . Raymond preceded her in death on February 24, 2005 . As a young woman, Hazel worked as an aid at Wausau Memorial Hospital. During WWII she worked at the rubber plant. She later went back to work at Kresge's Department Store until she retired at the age of 62. Hazel enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting, playing cards, playing dominos, water skiing, cross country skiing, swimming, boating and biking.



Survivors include one son Gene (Linda) Goetsch of


Bayside, two daughters; Peggy Prohaska of Phillips and Sandra (Jack Sonnentag ) Maley of Tomahawk, 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, one sister Barb Priebe of Schofield and three sister-in-laws; Margaret Shidell of Marathon, Ruby Shidell of Racine and Ruthie Shidell of Schofield.



Besides her husband and parents, Hazel was preceded in death by one daughter Bonnie Marschall, 3 sisters; Dorothy Shidell, Ruth Biller and Florence Thomas, 6 brothers; George, Wallace Jr., Lawrence, Joseph, Alfred and Robert.


Funeral services will be

11 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2009 at the St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Wausau . Officiating will be the Reverend Gary Froseth. Entombment will be in the Garden of Eternal Rest , Restlawn Memorial Park . Visitation will be Sunday from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Helke funeral Home, Wausau , and Monday from 10 a.m.
until the time of services at the church.
