Fredrick Plautz

September 3, 1932 — January 5, 2008

Fredrick Plautz, 75, of Wausau, died peacefully Saturday, January 5, 2008 at home under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Service and Aspirus Visiting Nurses Association.

Fred was born on September 3, 1932 in Wausau to the late Otto and Agnes (Schuett) Plautz. On August 11, 1956 he was united in marriage to Lorraine Dahlke at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Marathon. Fred and Lorraine celebrated fifty-one loving years together.

Fred faithfully served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War serving overseas in French Morocco. Fred worked in the waxline department and various other departments at James River/American Can Corporation for thirty-eight years until his retirement. In his free time he enjoyed fishing with his good friend Tom Goetsch, listening to polka music, and watching whatever Wisconsin sports team was playing. He was especially fond of his grandsons and never missed a chance to attend one of their baseball games or soccer matches, and then in later years their band concerts. Fred and Lorraine served as chaperones for the Luther League Youth Group.

Fred is survived by his wife Lorraine of Wausau; daughter, Nancy Lindsley of Wausau; grandsons, Daniel (Moriah) Lindsley of Austin, TX and Patrick Lindsley (Stephanie Nickolai) of LaCrosse; and Great-grandson Sean Lindsley. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Chaplin Stephen Russell and Pastor Ken Schaub will be officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.
