Florence Wenzel

Florence F. Wenzel, 92, Wausau, died Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Atrium Post Acute Care of Weston under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

Florence was born June 10, 1924 to the late William and Martha (Schwittay) Baumann. She married Arden Wenzel on September 30, 1944 in the Town of Wausau; the couple was blessed with three sons. Sadly, Arden died on March 31, 1956 following a brief illness. Florence farmed, worked as a seamstress for Wausau Drapes and as a cook at Wausau Insurance over the years to support her family.

Florence was a very spiritual and humble woman that lived her life with two pillars: her Faith and her family. She was active in church with the Ladies Guild and lived a very pious life believing in her Lord. Her grandchildren brought tremendous joy to her and she loved the simple pleasures of spending time with family.

Florence is survived by her sons; Gene (Alice) of Hatley and Warren (Mary) of Colorado; daughter-in-law, Cindy Wenzel of Colorado; 9 grandchildren; sister, Adeline Wenzel; and extended family and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her son, Gary Wenzel; brothers; Leslie, Norris, Nester and Gerhardt; and sister, Elva Schreier.

Funeral services for Florence will be 11:00 AM Friday, June 24, 2016 at Christ Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. David Wetmore will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church on Friday. Burial will be at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Easton.
