Ferne Hafeman

Ferne Hafeman, 94, of Wausau, died Sunday August 8, 2010 at Marywood Convalescent Center under Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.





Ferne was born October 21, 1915 to the late William and Grace (Robarge) Kneisl. She married Benjamin Hafeman on May 21, 1938 in Wausau. Benjamin preceded her in death on June 12, 1974. Ferne enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching CNN and Law and Order, and was an avid reader.





Survivors include three daughters; Darlene (Roger) Burk of Wausau, Marilyn Schilling of Rib Mountain, and Cheryl (Dann) Gerblick of Sun Lakes, AZ., five grandchildren; Jodi Ripp of Sun Prairie, Shawn Burk of Wausau, Russell (Cindy) Schilling of Marathon, Jeffrey Schilling of Wausau, and Ryan (Amy) Leitermann of Muskego, five great grandchildren; Cody Ripp, Hannah Burk, Cameron Schilling, Jake Leitermann and Jenna Leitermann, one sister Millie Unertl of Wausau and one brother Orville Kneisl of Weston.


Besides her parents and husband, Ferne was preceded in death by one brother William and one son-in-law Eugene Schilling.





Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday August 11, 2010 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Wausau. Officiating will be the Reverend Steven Gjerde. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, town of Easton. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. The Helke Funeral Home, Wausau is assisting the family with arrangements.
