Elizabeth C. Holbach, 89, of Wausau, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Marywood Convalescence Center in Wausau.
Elizabeth was born November 16, 1918 in the Town of Rietbrock-Athens, Wisconsin to Joseph and Susan Braun. She was the youngest of 14 children, having 5 older brothers and 8 older sisters, all of whom predeceased her. Elizabeth was married on May 23, 1942 at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, to Leonard F. Holbach, who died on January 24, 1964.
Elizabeth retired from the Kresge Company after working there from 1964 to 1981. Elizabeth was a long term member of Holy Name Catholic Church and St. Catherine's Council. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, gardening and family gatherings.
Survivors include one son, Ronald M. Holbach; three daughters, Sr. Susan Holbach, C.S.S.F., Milwaukee, Patricia A. Torney (Robert), Wausau, and Karen Olson (Thomas), Chippewa Falls; 6 grandchildren, Sara, Aaron, Jason, Andrew, Elizabeth, and Katherine; two step grandchildren, Douglas and Debra; 12 great-grandchildren and twin great-grandsons who are due any day.
Funeral Mass for Elizabeth will be 11:00 AM, Friday, May 30, 2008 at Holy Name Catholic Church. Father Gerald Pehler will be officiating and pall bears will be her 8 grandchildren. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 PM, Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Helke Funeral Home with a rosary to begin at 6:45 PM, visitation will resume at 10:00 AM on Friday at the church and last until the time of services. Interment will follow the funeral mass at Restlawn Memorial Park.
