Edward Mallak

May 19, 1919 — August 18, 2012

Edward Mallak, 93, of the town of Texas passed away Saturday, August 18, 2012 at his home under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Service.
Eddie was born May 31, 1919 in Athens to the late Frank and Mary (Maneski) Mallak. In his early years, he helped on the family farm in Athens until enlisting in the U.S. Army and serving his country during WWII. On April 26, 1952, Eddie married Florence Borman at Trinity Lutheran Church, town of Hewitt. Together they dairy farmed in the town of Texas for over 40 years with Eddie also working as a crane operator for Murray Machinery retiring in 1985. Eddie loved trout fishing in Cain Creek, playing Sheephead and continued to help on the farm.
Survivors include two sons, Noel (Carol) Prussman of Montgomery, Ill, Charles (Ruth) Mallak of Wausau, three daughters, Geraldine Seidler, Annette (Chris) Lauby, Charlotte (Dale) Doescher all of Wausau, 16 grandchildren, Neil Prussman, Jay (Janet) Prussman, Sue (Kirt) Elliott, Angela (Dave) Knauf, Penny (Matt) Bartelt, Lynn (Steve) Henaman, Laura (Mike) Horgan, Steve Seidler, Jeff (Kristen) Seidler, Sheryl and Samantha Lauby, Craig (Tania) Doescher, Michael and Kimberlee Doescher, Amy (Jacob) Brecheisen, Steve Griswold Jr., 14 great grandchildren, English, Lincoln, Katelyn, Madelyn, Megan, Brian, Alex, Shawn, Cheyanne, Caitlyn, Ethan, Lucas, Kaleigh and Alexia, one sister, Irene Sutherland of Cumberland, WI, son-in-law, Steve Griswold of Wausau, and sister-in-law, Verna Borman of Marathon City. Eddie was preceded in death by his wife, Florence, his daughter, Donna Griswold, four sisters, Regina Melig, Lottie Jaecks, Harriet Johnson, Christine (Stolze) Weber and two brothers, Leo and Ben Mallak.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 24, 2012 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Reverend Nancy Johnson-Russell will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
