Edna Brauer

October 9, 1912 — January 29, 2008

Edna B. Brauer, 95, died Tuesday January 29, 2008, at the North Central Health Care Center.



She was born on October 9, 1912 in Bear Creek, Wisconsin daughter of Leonard and Ida (Roehl) Schmallenberg. She married Rev. Harold H. Brauer on May 15, 1937, in Bear Creek.



During her marriage, she lived in Julesburg and Amherst, Colo.; Ogden, Utah; Symco and Green Bay, Wisconsin before moving to Wausau in 1965.



She was involved in various church activities in each place such as Sunday School leader, choir, and women's groups. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked for Montgomery Ward, Penny's and Prange's in Green Bay and Wausau. She enjoyed traveling in the US including Hawaii and to other parts of the world including the Scandinavian countries, Germany, Italy, Egypt, the Holy Land and Lebanon. She loved to golf and paint pictures and cards in oil, watercolor and acrylic paints. She was a member of the Wisconsin Valley Art Association and the Valparaiso University Women's Guild for many years.



She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998, her parents, one brother (Elmer Schmallenberg) and one sister (Frohnie Martin).



Survivor?s include two sons, Rev. Dr. James (Gail) Brauer, Manchester, MO; and Dr. Roger (Char) Brauer, Tolono, IL; one daughter, Gloria Brauer, Wausau; four grandchildren, Andrew (Andrea) Brauer, Rebecca (Bob) Mitchell, Michelle (Michael) Pinciaro, David (Kendra) Brauer; and one brother, Irvin Schmallenberg, Shawano, WI.



Rev. Matthew Hein will be officiating. Entombment will be in the Restlawn Memorial Chapel Mausoleum.



The family of Edna Brauer would like to thank the staff of Unit C at the North Central Health Care for the loving care they bestowed on her during the last months of her life and to Dr. Michelle Montgomery for her care and support.



Memorials may be sent to either Trinity Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Hour Ministries.
