Earl Huehnerfuss

November 4, 1925 — March 19, 2008

Earliss "Earl" William Carl Huehnerfuss, 82, of Wausau died Wednesday March 19, 2008 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.



Earl was born November 4, 1925 in the town of Rib Falls to the late William and Emma (Felbaum) Huehnerfuss. He attended Trinity Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Wausau High School. In Earl's senior year he was drafted into the Army on February 10, 1944 and served as Technical Sergeant. He served in the United States, New Guinea, Philippines, and Japan. He earned an honorable discharge on April 16, 1946 and received the American Theatre Service Medal and the Philippine Liberation Medal. Earl was a member of VFW Burns Post #388 and American Legion Montgomery Plant Post #10.



Earl married Marjorie Laessig on July 9, 1949 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau and remained happily married for 59 years. In 1989 Earl retired from James Rivers (formerly American Can) as a production scheduler after 38 years of service. Earl's faith was very important to him and he was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served on many ministries. He was always interested in all his grandchildren's lives and loved to go to many of their activities. Another great enjoyment was playing golf and cards with his friends and coworkers. Even with all his medical issues, the one thing that never lapsed was his sense of humor.



Survivors include his wife, Marjorie of Wausau, three daughters, Suzanne Cutting of Bellevue, WA, Judith Hudson of Newhall, CA, Debra (Robert) Parsons of North Ft. Meyers, FL, three sons, Gary (Vicky) of Novato, CA, Scott (Dee Dee) of Wausau, and Mark (Heidi) of Edgar, one sister, Verna (Evan) Quade of Wausau, 14 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 1 step great grandchild, and one brother-in-law, Al Delfino of San Bruno, CA and many nieces and nephews. Earl was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jay Cutting, brother, Merlin, two sisters, Lucille (Ira) Saindon and Mona (Harold Saindon) Greubel and a sister-in-law, Carol (Laessig) Delfino.



Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 24, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. Reverend Matthew Hein will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park with full military honor performed by the VFW Burns Post #388. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Sunday at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau and at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.
