Dorothy Mae Sickler, youngest of 11 children, was born January 29, 1919 in the Town of Weston (Kelly) to the late Jacob and Hulda (Schram) Sickler. She married Clarence Fust October 10, 1936 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Schofield and the couple was blessed by the addition of their son, Roger to their family. They farmed together with past and future generations of family throughout their life, the couple celebrated 57 wonderful years together before Clarence’s death, January 14, 1994. In 2009, Dorothy was overjoyed with the birth of her great-great-grandson, Aiden, and proud of being a part of five generations of family.
Dorothy was pleased to be member of the WWER Homemakers Club for over 63 years. She was also a devoted member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church. Dorothy was known for making her homemade bread and noodles, enjoyed tending to her yard and working with her flowers. For the past 20 years she sold sweet corn from the family farm, known as the “Corn Lady on N”, and enjoyed visiting with everyone who stopped.
Dorothy Fust, 91, Town of Ringle, died Sunday, August 8, 2010 at the Hospice House under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. Thou Dorothy is gone, her memory and spirit lives on with each passing generation of her family.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Roger (Darleen) Fust; grandchildren, Brian (Wendy) Fust and Brenda (Kevin) Prieve; great-grandchildren, Nicole Fust, Jennifer (Adam) Krause, Tyler Fust and Ryan Prieve; great-great-grandson, Aiden Krause; sister, Margaret Meseberg; and many more extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Chester, Ervin, George, Elmer and Delbert; and sisters, Esther, Agnes and Grace Sickler and Mabel Easker; and her beloved great-grandson, Bradley Fust.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday, August 13, 2010 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Wausau. Reverend Gary Froseth will be officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 12 at Helke Funeral Home, and resuming at 9:30 AM Friday at the church until the time of the funeral. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
