Corrine Rusch

Corrine Rusch, 93, of Wausau, passed away, Sunday, April 30, 2016 at Benedictine, Wausau under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Corrine was born on a farm south of Marshfield, WI, in the Town of Rock, January 10, 1923, daughter of Martin and Clara (Christensen) Heggelund. The family later moved to Marshfield where she attended school and graduated from Marshfield Senior High in 1940. She married Paul Martin and later Earl Rusch. Both preceded her in death.
Corrine spoke with fondness of dancing to the live music of big bands in central Wisconsin during the 1930's and 1940's, and of her many travels on trains during and after World War II. She was employed at Roddis Wood Products and Connor Lumber Company both in Marshfield. She then became a medical secretary in the Doege Medical Center in Marshfield. In 1965, she moved to Wausau and was employed at Wausau Insurance until her retirement. She always loved to work.
After retiring she spent time with her sister Margaret and other cherished friends, going to concerts, lectures, basketball and track events. She often accompanied people to medical appointments due to her medical knowledge. Throughout her life she took many medical, legal and business classes and enjoyed exercising, swimming and knitting. She was a wonderful parent, grandmother and friend.
Corrine is survived by her daughter Nancy Martin (Doug) Helling of Weston, two grandchildren, Charissa Woods and Jonathan (Candace) Helling, great grandchildren, Savannah and Robert Woods and Violet Helling. She also has two step daughters, Bonnie (Gene) Spindler and Tangie (Michael) Leonard and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, one brother, Clifford, in childhood and her sister Margaret Scherr.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 630 Adams St, Wausau. Visitation will from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Rev. Roger Black will officiate. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Marshfield.
