Obituary

Charles Ortlieb is remembered as a man who truly loved his family. The love he had for his childhood sweetheart, Suzanne "Sally" Wendorf, grew into a marriage lasting nearly 60 years and blessed with three children, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. In 2002, Charles and Suzanne celebrated 50 years of marriage by renewing their wedding vows in Honolulu, Hawaii surrounded by family.
Charles was born September 9, 1933 in Wausau to the late Henry and Esther (Graveen) Ortlieb. Charles attended Wausau Senior High School where he first met Suzanne. Not long after graduation, they were married on August 18, 1952. Charles and Suzanne moved to St. Point, where he worked for 38 years at Copps Corporation, first in the meat department and then as Dairy Director. After retiring, they built a home on Mable Lake in Tomahawk, with Charles working part- time for Ritt, Beyer, and Wier.
Some of his past times included traveling the world with visits to Greece, Hong Kong, China, Puerto Rico, and many places across the U.S. A. Charles loved playing cards with friends, cheering on the Packers, winning at the casinos, driving his Mustangs and Cadillacs and golfing in the yearly "Ortlieb Open".
At the age of 78, Charles passed away on Monday, July 16, 2012 in Wausau.
