Arthur Duranceau

Arthur L. Duranceau, 78, of the town of Texas passed away on Friday, August 8, 2008 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital .



On November 16, 1929 , Arthur was born in Brokaw to the late Arthur H. and Dorothy (Marco) Duranceau Sr. At the age of 17, Arthur began working full time at Brokaw Paper Mill. He also served his country as a former member of the National Guard. On December 30, 1949 Arthur married Phyllis Boyack at St. Therese Catholic Church, Rothschild. They raised their family in Brokaw where Arthur continued to work at the mill until retiring after 45 ½ years of service. In his younger years, Arthur enjoyed hunting, fishing, and had played slow and fast pitch softball for the company teams.



Survivors include three sons, Steven of Wausau, Wayne (Kathy) of Atlantic, Iowa, David (Betty) of Tomahawk, two daughters, Sue (Michael) Brendemuehl of Wausau, Dorothy (Delmar) Klatt of Rothschild, 16 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 7 step brothers and sisters, sister-in-law, Barbara Kavajecz of Paxton, Ill, a special cousin Bobby Toivonen of Wausau, and special niece, Vicki Cline of Edgar. Arthur was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis on February 23, 2002 , two grandsons, Steven Jr. and Jody Hanson, one sister, Margaret Cline, and two brother-in-laws, Doug (Joan) Sparbel and George Kavajecz.



The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. , Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at the Church of St. Anne , Wausau . Father Steven Brice will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park . Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. vigil service at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau . Visitation will also be at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com. Memorials may be directed to the family.
